After a lovely breakfast of kippers & a chat with Neena I set off from Trimstone, the plan being to walk back to Woolacombe then pick up the coastal path to Croyde Bay. There were leaflets with local walks at the hotel so I decided to follow one. It did warn me that the ‘muddy… Continue reading Day 7 Trimstone to Croyde via a dangerous road
Ended up spending a night on my own in the dorm, so I used two quilts to give my bed some padding. Slept soundly, so set off early. Had a breakfast in a lovely cafe; there was a stag party having breakfast before the big day. They were having a wedding down at Tunnels Beach… Continue reading Day 6 Lead with your chest
i took the day off today, my feet needed it. I spent a very pleasant afternoon at Tunnels Beach in the sun shine with Verity looking down on us. ( she is my new hero) Just chilling and paddling to help with the blisters. Early start tomorrow to Woolacombe 13+ miles so not going to… Continue reading Day 5 And Relax
After falling into a comatosed sleep. I found it difficult to get out of bed this morning. The B&B was again lovely and I had andy’s cabs picking me up and dropping me back to Coombe Martin. Will know better next time not to book accommodation £30 away from from your finishing point. Anyway he… Continue reading Day 4 Wet & windy
An easy start today, as I got a lift from Janna’s husband to Porlock Weir. They are a lovely couple I am just sorry because of the mix up I didn’t get to stay with them. Day 2’s walking was much more punishing than yesterday. I was going to Lynmouth which was 11 miles, but… Continue reading Day 2 F & B in the Woods & on the Cliffs
- Beautiful 1st day, from Minehead to Porlock Weir, about 9 miles. Took the rugged path so challenging but scenery breath taking. Met a lovely couple from New York so took each other’s photos as you do. The weather was lovely, and didn’t need a waterproof. ( note to self need to get some Vaseline as chaffing thighs a bit of a problem as weather breezy) Stopped in a brilliant tea room called – the Kitnors in Bossington. Then onto Porlock and called in the church for a flower festival that was stunning. On to Porlock Weir which is a beautiful little harbour and a couple of hard earned San Miguels to finish. Janna kindly picked me up and dropped me back so need to sample the delights of Minehead tonight.
- Unfortunately, Minehead was closed! But had good veggie sausage, mash & peas. Luggage transfer sorted.
