1st Day

  • Beautiful 1st day, from Minehead to Porlock Weir, about 9 miles. Took the rugged path so challenging but scenery breath taking. Met a lovely couple from New York so took each other’s photos as you do. The weather was lovely, and didn’t need a waterproof. ( note to self need to get some Vaseline as chaffing thighs a bit of a problem as weather breezy) Stopped in a brilliant tea room called – the Kitnors in Bossington. Then onto Porlock and called in the church for a flower festival that was stunning. On to Porlock Weir which is a beautiful little harbour and a couple of hard earned San Miguels to finish. Janna kindly picked me up and dropped me back so need to sample the delights of Minehead tonight. 
  • Unfortunately, Minehead was closed! But had good veggie sausage, mash & peas. Luggage transfer sorted.

I will be retiring again after a lifetime in the NHS and returning in 2016, because my pension wasn’t going far enough. ( I am a WASPI woman) I live in Northampton with my husband Andy & we have one daughter who lives with her partner in London. I am a keen walker and completed 300 miles of the Southwest Coastal path through August in 2015 Due to returning to work, illness of my father I have only just sorted doing the second half next June/July. As before I will record my journey from Poole, Dorset back to St Just, Cornwall.
